8 DIY face mask recepies

Hi All!

In this post I will show you how I make face masks.

You might have the same challenges: a bit oily “T-zone” and dry areas around cheeks.

To improve the feel of my skin, I use a gently cleanser and a toner. I try to avoid washing my face with water because it always dries my skin.

Sometimes I use face masks bought in drugstores and LUSH, but I like to mix some non-toxic,  “edible” DIY face masks for myself, too.

I just love to surf the net for new recipes!

So, let’s head to the kitchen to steal some food!

Here are my favorite DIY face mask recipes:

Purifying Mask with Charcoal face mask

This mask cleans your pores, pulls out toxins, removes blemishes.

Ingredients:

1 tbs activated charcoal powder

1 tbs white clay powder

1 tbs honey

1 tbs lemon juice

1 tbs boiled, warm water

Mix them together, apply on your skin and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Wash your face with warm water and use a moisturizer.

Coffee-Cinnamon scrub

DIY face mask with coffee and cinnamon

Ingredients:

3 tbs ground coffee

1 tbs ground cinnamon

1 tbs activated charcoal powder

2 tbs honey

Mix them together and gently scrub your skin with this mixture.

The grounded coffee scrubs the skin gently, while cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties and it is full of antioxidants.

There are a lot of recipes on the internet with sugar as their main ingredient – they are too harsh for my skin, I don’t recommend them.

Alternative recipe with less ingredients:

Just mix a tablespoon of honey with cinnamon and rub your face gently with the mixture. It exfoliates the skin nicely.

Anti-blemish DIY Face Mask with Honey

This mask is great for blemish free, moisturized skin

Ingredients

1 tbs honey

1 tbs coconut oil

1 tbs lemon juice

Honey is full of antioxidants and it is also antibacterial. Coconut oil moisturizes the skin. The added lemon juice can heal acne and remove blackheads. If your skin becomes irritated or itchy after applying, reduce the lemon juice next time.

Apply this mixture to your face for 30 minutes.

Green tea face mask to brighten your skin

Brightens, hydrates the skin

It is not a “mask”, it is a “liquid”.

Make a strong green tea (use just a little water and quite a lot of green tea leaves), let it cool down. Add some honey to it and apply this mixture to your face with your fingers or with a cotton ball.

Egg white + lemon juice face mask against blackheads

Cleans up blackheads

A classic DIY mask: whisk together the egg white with some lemon juice, apply it to your “T-zone” with your fingers and let it dry. It is quite disgusting. 🙂

When it is completely dried (10-20 minutes), you can peel it off your face.

Alternative recipe: add a little honey to the mixture.

Matcha + Honey face Mask against Acne

If you have inflamed, acne-prone skin, you might need to attack the bad bacterias on your face with the magic power of matcha powder. It has so much anti-inflammatory properties that it works wonders: it reduces redness and also restores moisture.

Ingredients

1 tsp matcha powder

1 tsp of honey

1 pinch of cinnamon

Dissolve them with a tsp of hot water.

Lemon + Yoghurt face mask

Brightens the skin

Yoghurt contains lactic acid that kills bacterias that cause pimples. It also helps the skin to maintain its natural pH balance.

Ingredients:

1 tbs of Greek yoghurt

a few drops of lemon juice

Just mix them together and apply the mixture to your skin. Leave it for 20 minutes.

Avocado + honey face mask

Moisturizes, nourishes the skin

Ingredients:

1/4 avocado

1 tbs honey

Blend them together well and apply to your face for 15-20 minutes.

Tips to achieve beautiful skin

  • Try to exfoliate your skin a bit longer, not harder. Do not scrub too hard, ad it can damage your skin.
  • Do not use too much cream on your skin as it can clog your pores, that leads to blemishes and breakouts.
  • Use oil absorbing sheets during the day if needed.
  • Sometimes I just dab the used tea bags to my skin (green tea, hibiscus tea, mint tea). It feels so good and they make my skin so soft! Yeah, I am a bit strange. 🙂
  • Try to find the perfect cleanser for your skin.
  • Use a face mask 1-2 times a week.
  • Drink lots of water.
